Shelley Niemann

Shelley R. Niemann, 68, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Rockford, IL, with her husband Dan by her side.

Shelley was born September 14, 1957, to Albert L. and Janice (Fisher) Kober in Billings, MT. She was raised on the family farm west of Park City, MT (Youngs Point), being the third of the four Kober kids. Her early years were spent with family, cousins, friends, and classmates attending 4-H, church, and school activities. Shelley was baptized and confirmed at St Paul’s Lutheran Church and graduated from Park City High School. After graduation, she moved to Missoula to further her education.

Shelley then moved to the Chicago area. Here, she met her first husband, Mark Karsel. To this union, a son, Jeremy (Gianna Venticinque) Karsel, was born January 22, 1987.

Shelley married Dan Niemann on May 15, 1992. She became a stepmother to Dan’s son, William Niemann, born December 13, 1980. Together, Shelley and Dan had a daughter, Danielle (Jimmy) Painter, born August 4, 1994. They had many grandchildren, Jaxon Painter, born May 21, 2017, Callie Painter, born April 5, 2024, a grandbaby on the way, due February of 2027, Oliver Karsel, born June 27, 2014, and Mia Karsel, born February 25, 2024.
