Obituary
Nicholas Allen Zimmer, 39, of Loves Park, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026--born September 24, 1986, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Nicholas was the son of Gordon and Sunnie (Schultz) Zimmer.
Nicholas worked as a safety coordinator. He graduated from Rock Valley College. He then went on to work at Rockford Systems.
Nicholas had a passion for working on any one of his numerous vehicles-- always chasing the next fastest ride and loved for his trucks to get bigger and bigger. He also had a deep love for spicy food and candy. He frequently loved trading new hot sauces and treats back and forth with his brother as they engaged in friendly competitions to see who could handle the most heat. He never missed a stop down the candy aisle at Woodman's which was his favorite store, and he especially loved heading to Famous Dave's for their spicy Devil's Spit burger.
Above all, he cherished the time spent with his nephew, Ollivander. Whether they were playing games at Dave & Buster's—where Nicholas usually ended up losing to his nephew—or listening intently to Olli’s latest enthusiastic stories, especially about his recent fascination with dinosaurs, those moments were deeply treasured. Nicholas was also a dedicated friend who always made time to hit the gym with those closest to him.
Nicholas is survived by his brothers, Matthew (Micaela) Zimmer; Christopher Zimmer, his partner of 12 years, Kristin Clark, nephew, Ollivander, and niece, Peyton. He is predeceased by Gordon Zimmer, Sunnie Schultz, and Kyle Zimmer.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at The Rock Community Church located at 2 Belmont Dr. Romeoville IL 60446, with visitation from 12 to 1 and a service following at 1
Nick had a deep love for Huskies and previously dedicated his time as a volunteer with Free Spirit Huskie Rescue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Free Spirit Huskie Rescue.
