Anita L. Edwards, 79, died Monday, May 25, 2026, in Rockford, IL. Born April 23, 1947, in Rockford, Anita was the daughter of Keith and Alice (Rude) Lanning.
Anita graduated from Auburn High School, Class of 1965, and she worked 27 years as an office associate at Public Aid and DCFS. In her free time, she enjoyed watching game shows and playing canasta. She loved breakfast on Saturday mornings and spending the day shopping. Additionally, she enjoyed genealogy and old family photos.
Anita is survived by her children, Sherri McCrary, David Isbell, and Steve Isbell; siblings Karen (Danny) Laymon, Jeffrey Lanning, John Lanning, and Jennifer Ingley; grandchildren, Nicole (Derrick) Brown, Jimmy McCrary, Brittany Weatherbee, and Tyler Isbell; great grandchildren, Destiny Isbell-Love, Kaelynn Isbell-Love, and Alivia Brown; and many special friends who she adored.
She is predeceased by her parents; son, James Isbell; and brother, Robert Beetle.
A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, June 8, 2026, from 4 to 6 pm at Twisted Tulip, 7901 Burden Rd, Machesney Park, IL, 61115. Memorials can be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
