Obituary

Kristal J. Hungate, 47, of Rockford passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026 in her home. Born October 13, 1978 in Rockford; the daughter of Gary Buckman and Brenda Wurm. Graduate of Auburn High School. Once Kristal had children, her girls became her world… Kristal’s heart was big – she was caring and always tried her best with what she had. She liked listening to music, cooking, playing games, and Facebook. From time-to-time Kristal would joke around with those who knew her best – she would always take the time to check in on her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Kyla Randolph; siblings, Heather (Chris) Brown, Phil (Serena) Hungate, Thomas (Ann) Ross, Angela (Tony) Boyd, Brian Buckman, Gary (Stacy) Buckman Jr., Amber Ross (George) Prentiss, Terry Ross, Tasha Kelchner, and Dawn Kelchner;; sister-in-law, Shayla Randolph; mother -in-law and father-in-law, Ida and James Randolph; several nieces and nephews; many step-sisters, step-brothers, and extended family members. Predeceased by her parents; daughter, Isabella Hungate; brother, Timothy Bankes; significant other, James Randolph; step-father, Wayne Wurm; and many aunts and uncles.

Kristal and her daughter, Isabella, who passed on January 10, 2026 are having a  joint memorial visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford.
